When someone tries to attach an .exe, .zip or .js to a PDF, they will receive the warning "The file type you are attaching cannot be opened or saved from Acrobat because of your PDF file attachment settings. If you trust the source of this file, click OK to attach it." So, curiously enough, they are warned, but allowed to continue. Which is odd, since no one downstream receiving the PDF can do anything with the attached files!

Here is how to remove the policy block on Zip file attachments in Adobe PDF. These instructions work for Adobe Reader or Adobe Standard:Open Regedit.exeBrowse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\\\FeatureLockDown\cDefaultLaunchAttachmentPermsReplacing and as appropriate e.g. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\FeatureLockDown\cDefaultLaunchAttachmentPermsLocate in the value list, .ZIP:3 and edit to read .ZIP:1 this changes the behaviour to prompt the user for an action (save or open).Close Regedit and open Adobe. You should now be able to open Zip attachments in PDF files.
Here is the work around I use:1) change the extension of the the zip file from .zip to .zipped. This can be done with the dos command:ren "file.zip" "file.zipped"2) now attach file with the .zipped extension to the PDF. (adobe will not complain about files with an .zipped extension)3) add the following description to the attachment:"save as .zip"

A PDF file is a wise choice for workers and students who store data or earn info from it. It is good in holds info but weak in file stability (contains internal and external reasons). That why people also place questions about why PDF files are not opening on forums or social media.
These causes will interface your daily study and work. Nothing is more frustrating than not being to open a PDF file when you need it. To solve the "Can't Open PDF Files", try the 3 fixes outlined below - Check Adobe Reader, Repair damaged PDF file, and find another PDF reader or send files again.
You may fail to see your files in Outlook directly because you don't have or update your Adobe Reader program. So moving to the website to get a quick download and then open the files again.
In the business world, documents are often compressed into ZIP files before being sent as email attachments in order to reduce the size of an email and to adhere to attachment file size limits that are commonplace in most work environments. By default, the iPhone cannot open ZIP files, but with the installation of free, third-party applications, you can ensure that you are able to access important documents within ZIP files whenever you need them. These apps also interface with your iPhone browser, making it possible to view the contents of ZIP files that you download from the Internet as well.
However, you can admit it is not a positive experience to try expanding your zipped file but instead get an error message that implies you cannot open the Zip file on your Mac. This error message may show like this:
Zipeg is a free open-source program used for the compression and extraction of archive files in formats such as Zip, Rar, 7z, Tar, and so on. This software works on both Windows and Mac OS X hence it can be used to unzip your Zip files on Mac. Zipeg is a free utility and it has features that can handle the unzipping of your Zip files. It can handle archives that are made of several parts; once you can open the first part of the file in Zipeg, the software will automatically handle the rest for you.
You can use Zipeg to unzip the files you have been unable to expand with your Mac because of its unique feature previewing the data in your archive file. Then it goes ahead to extract the files you need. Simply do these and you can unzip your Zip files in no time:
Repairit File Repair is a software you can use to fix the archive utility error 1 which makes you unable to open your Zip file on Mac. Stellar File Repair itself supports the repair of files in Word, Excel, as well as PowerPoint documents, and not just Zip format. This tool has the capability of recovering all the data found in your corrupted file. It is so unique tool that supports the repair of bigger Zip files of up to 1. 5GB. It has an interface that makes file repair an easy process for any user so you do not have to worry about getting confused by the steps. Follow these guidelines and you will fix the error 1 facing your Zip file. You will also be able to open and recover all your data which has been affected by this error.
It is possible that you may not be able to open an attachment you receive because your Mac may not have the apps to open some attachments. For example, you can easily open Zip files on your Mac without downloading and installing additional programs. But you may not able to open Rar files, similar to Zip, on your Mac if you do not download some Rar opener apps.
Your Mac has a built-in file opener, called Preview. Using Preview, you can open a lot of file formats such as JPEG, PNG, PSD, PDF, and TIFF. If you could not open files with Preview, then see this article.
After my test (ipad air 2 with 9.3.2) i see that MAIL opens only zip files produced with a MAC OS X.With MAIL we can't open zip files produced on other operating system /app (for example windows or 7zip on windows, etc)So their info ("Supporto allegati email/Tipi di documenti visualizzabili" on =it_IT&locale=it_IT)are not true (or are partially true)
I have been facing the same problem on iPad air 2 running IOS 10 and updated to 10.3. In both versions of IOS zip would not open in Mail. When I click on the zip file it would open a blank zip with the message zip archive and the size. I figured out that the file has archived file has then got to to be sent to Documents or WPSOffice app to open it. While it is one step more to be done, it opens fine in the other apps. So looks like zip files created by non IOS systems cannot be directly opened in Mail and have to be exported to another app to open them.
If you get a zip file you may be wondering how you can open the archive to view what it is and extract the internal components of the zip archive. Wonder no more, it turns out that opening and unzipping files on a Mac is very easy thanks to the built-in Archive Utility tool.
Once The Unarchiver is installed and launched, it will want to associate with all known archive types on the Mac. This enables the third party tool to open zip archives and other items in Mac OS that the default Archive Utility may not support, which is another benefit. The Unarchiver can open zip archives as well as open RAR files on a Mac, zip CPGZ files, bz2 bzip, .7z files, .sit, gzip gz, tar, and many other file archive formats that you may encounter when downloading data from the internet or in emails. That vast support for extracting a wide variety of file types is one of the many reasons why The Unarchiver is a great third party app to add to a Mac.
Whether you use the default Archive Utility tool that comes with Mac OS to open zip files or go for the third party solution like The Unarchiver is entirely up to you, both will open a zip file with a simple double-click option.
Well Peter this is an article about opening ZIP files on a Mac, it is not about Word files or exec files, it is about zip files. You can open zip files as described, because this is how you open zip files on a Mac.
You may get an error when you try to download and open certain .zip files from Procore. For example, you may encounter the error when you download a document extract from the Document Management tool or download tender documents. Note: This error only affects Windows machines.
The reason why you may encounter the error is related to how the Windows OS parses the filename and underlying folder structure of a .ZIP file's contents. It is a known limitation across all Windows machines that it cannot open a .ZIP file when it exceeds the 260 character filename limit. When a .ZIP is created, the included files and the underlying folder structure is maintained to ensure that when its contents are unzipped/unpacked, the files are placed into the correct folder structure that matches the original file path. For example, you may have a .ZIP file that contains a folder structure similar to the following:
In the example above, the full path contains 87 characters. If you opened the file, Windows would try to place the folders and files into the default destination path on your local computer, which may be: C://Windows/Users/John/Downloads/
In this example, the destination path contains 33 characters. When both paths are combined (87 + 33), it yields a total of 120 characters. Windows machines can properly process ZIP files whose combined original and destination file paths are less than 260 characters in length. If the combined character length exceeds the 260 character limit, Windows will not be able to open the file and you will receive an error or failed event. 2ff7e9595c
