One of the most obvious alternatives to the OnePlus 7 is the newly released Asus Zenfone 6. It has that top-notch chipset, while costing a lot less than most of its rivals, including the OnePlus 7. It has the same primary camera, but also an ultrawide module and produces the best selfies in the class thanks to its clever flip-camera mechanism. It also has a stock-looking Android just like the OxygenOS, leaving OLED panel as the OnePlus 7's only advantage. Then again the Zenfone doesn't have a notch, so even that isn't exactly clear-cut.
Earlier this year Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold3, another device with a selfie camera that doesn't require a notch or hole punch. This feature is essentially crucial to the phone's design; by using a camera under the phone's display, there's nothing to interrupt its generously-sized folding display.
Asus ZenFone 6 has a flippable camera so it doesn’t need a notch
As it turns out, you don't need an entire rectangle to contain just one front-facing camera. Weird, right? And teardrop-style notch allows you to do just that. You still have a notch - this "intrusion" at the top of the screen - but it's much smaller and definitely less noticeable. This also means more space for top bar indicators and, still - some drawbacks while using the phone in the full-screen mode.
Asus ZenFone 6 features the most recent alternative to the notch. It builds on the idea of dual-screen smartphones of "reusing" the rear camera. When you need to take a selfie, the camera just rotates from the back to you, revealing itself up-front. Besides all that, the rotation handle brings some interesting features to the table - especially when it's allowed to be rotated at any degree you want! 2ff7e9595c
